About TrackMan
TrackMan is the dual radar and camera system behind every simulator in the building. It measures your real club and real ball on each swing, then turns those measurements into the courses, games, and numbers you see on screen.
We run six TrackMan simulators because the data is the point. TrackMan describes its technology as the ball-flight analysis choice of the PGA Tour and The R&A, and the same unit that powers a casual round with friends here also powers our lessons, club fittings, and serious practice.

The Technology
How TrackMan Works
Radar, a camera, and about six seconds of ball flight: this is what happens behind you every time you swing.
- TrackMan combines dual Doppler radar with a built-in camera. The radars sample 40,000 times per second and follow both the club through impact and the ball through its entire flight, which lasts about six seconds on a full shot.
- Its patented Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT) syncs the camera with the radar, so the unit knows exactly where on the clubface you struck the ball and picks up club data on over 90% of shots.
- Every swing produces more than 40 data parameters, covering club delivery (club speed, attack angle, club path, face angle) and ball flight (ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, carry).
- Core numbers like ball speed, launch angle, and spin rate are measured directly by the radar; a few others, like total distance after bounce and roll, are calculated from the measured flight.
- In a simulator bay, the radar reads your real club and ball at impact and the software draws the rest of the flight on screen, so indoor practice runs on the same measurements the unit makes outdoors.
- TrackMan describes its technology as the ball-flight analysis choice of the PGA Tour and The R&A, its shot tracing appears in TV golf broadcasts, and tour players, coaches, and club fitters train on the same system you hit on in the bay.

TrackMan 4 Dual Radar Technology
Shows how the unit's two radars track the club and the full ball flight, which is exactly what is happening behind you in the bay.

SMASH FACTOR WITH JASON DUFNER
PGA Tour pro Jason Dufner demonstrates what smash factor really measures by changing how efficiently he strikes the ball on purpose.

The Numbers
Know Your Numbers
The parameters you'll see most on screen, in plain English.
- Carry
- How far the ball flies through the air before it lands.
- Total
- Carry plus bounce and roll: the full distance from where you hit the ball to where it stops.
- Ball speed
- How fast the ball is moving the instant it leaves the clubface, the single biggest factor in how far it goes.
- Club speed
- How fast the clubhead is traveling just before it reaches the ball.
- Smash factor
- Ball speed divided by club speed, a measure of how much energy you transferred to the ball; around 1.50 with a driver is a pure strike.
- Spin rate
- How fast the ball is spinning right after impact, measured in rpm; spin controls how high the ball flies and how quickly it stops.
- Spin axis
- The tilt of the ball's spin, which explains why a shot curved: tilted right means a fade or slice, tilted left means a draw or hook.
- Launch angle
- The angle the ball takes off at compared to the ground.
- Attack angle
- Whether the clubhead is moving up or down as it strikes the ball; drivers work best hit slightly up, irons slightly down.
- Club path
- The direction the clubhead is moving through impact compared to your target line, in to out or out to in.
- Face angle
- Where the clubface points at impact, open or closed to your target; it is the main influence on where the ball starts.
- Dynamic loft
- The loft the clubface actually delivers to the ball at impact, which is usually different from the number stamped on the club.
- Curve
- How many yards the ball bends left or right in the air from the line it started on.
- Side
- How far left or right of your target line the ball finishes.
Keep Every Shot
Your TrackMan Profile
Your session doesn't end when you leave the bay. A free Trackman account saves every shot you hit here, so your stats and reports follow you home.
- 1Download the free Trackman Golf app from the App Store or Google Play.
- 2Create your free Trackman account in the app.
- 3At the bay, use the app's quick login to connect your profile to the session (our staff can help you get linked).
- 4Play or practice as normal; every shot is captured and saved to your account automatically.
- 5Open the app after your visit to review session reports and watch your lifetime stats build.
Good to Know
- The Trackman Golf app is free, published by TrackMan A/S, and available on the App Store and Google Play.
- Every shot you hit in a TrackMan simulator or on a TrackMan range is captured and saved to your account automatically, so you can review it any time.
- The app builds an activity overview with reports for all your range, indoor, and practice sessions.
- Your account keeps lifetime statistics, including a Trackman handicap, so your progress carries across every visit.
- Leaderboards and games in the app let you compete with friends across competitions.
- The TrackMan Combine is a standardized 60-shot skills test (6 shots each at targets from 60 to 180 yards plus driver, scored 0 to 100 on proximity) that you can retake to benchmark improvement.
